Our Story
AstroUtah
Light Years to Your Eyes
At AstroUtah, we believe the night sky is more than something to admire from afar. It is a canvas of stories, science, and wonder waiting to be shared.
A Telescope in the Backyard
It started with simply a telescope, a clear Utah night, and a question: what would it feel like to bring those distant lights closer? Over time, astrophotography became more than a hobby. It became a way to capture the universe in moments of light, revealing nebulae, galaxies, and star clusters that our eyes alone could never see.
Utah's dark skies provide a front-row seat to the cosmos. Free from the light pollution that blankets most of the country, our high desert gives the camera a rare gift: nights so clear you can photograph the delicate structure of a stellar nursery 7,000 light-years away. Each image is carefully processed to balance science with artistry. Staying true to the data, yet alive with the breathtaking beauty written in starlight.
Every photograph is more than pixels and colors. It is a reminder that
We are made of stardust, and the universe is closer than we think.
A Platform Built for Stargazers
AstroUtah has grown from a personal image collection into a full community platform — giving amateur astronomers and astrophotographers the tools they need to plan, capture, and share their own piece of the night sky.
Image Catalog
Browse and download a curated gallery of deep-sky objects. Nebulae, galaxies, star clusters, and more! Downloads for personal use are available for members.
Observation Weather
Integrated Windly and MeteoBlue astronomical forecasts show cloud cover, transparency, and seeing conditions at your exact location so you never waste a night setting up under a hidden overcast.
Observation Sites
Save and manage multiple personal observation locations, each with its own horizon. Tap into community-shared sites — vetted dark-sky spots contributed by fellow AstroUtah members.
Equipment Tracking
Log the telescopes, cameras, mounts, and accessories you use at each site. Track what worked, what didn't, and build a complete record of your imaging setup over time.
Observation Notes
Keep a personal logbook right inside your dashboard. Record seeing conditions, target notes, and session reflections. Everything in one place instead of scattered across notebooks and text files.
Community
Whether you are a seasoned imager or pointing a telescope for the first time, AstroUtah is a place to connect, share locations, compare equipment, and celebrate the universe together.
Your Seat at the Universe
AstroUtah exists to share this experience with you. Whether you are a fellow astrophotographer, an art lover who wants a piece of the cosmos on your wall, or simply someone curious about what lies beyond our atmosphere, you belong here. My hope is that every image sparks the same awe and curiosity that led someone to capture it.
